Sunday Thoughts is where I share my creative side with you. Today’s photo is one I took on a nearby farm.
Proverbs 27 specifically speaks to the changing seasons and how we should react to them. Changes are hard for us humans. Some of us embrace change, but I would bet there are a lot more that resist it. Even the changing seasons can bring unwelcome changes into our lives. The Bible tells us to prepare for changes and to be ready. Do not tarry in the preparations for the changes will come about anyway. Seasonal changes happen for a reason. The earth needs a rest. In fall we get ready for the rest time. We gather and harvest the things we will need from the earth while it rests. We gather our foods from our garden and prepare them for storage in our homes. This is how we spend time in Summer and Fall. The Winter is the rest time. We have time to tend to different tasks. We plan for Spring. In Spring we watch as the Earth is reborn and plants begin to grow again.
Our lives have seasons too. The toughest season for me was the beginning of our empty nest season. We had a great time raising our children and enjoy them very much now that they are adults living their own lives. When we first realized that the hands on portion of our parenting was over, I didn’t know what I should do. I was not a hovering parent and had work and my own interests but I missed having a house full of teenagers! But, after a time, I embraced the new season and the new blessings it brings to our lives. We have even entered into a new role as grandparents!
I don’t really know how we prepare ourselves for the inevitable changes that come into our lives. But maybe I will just work on embracing change and see how that goes.
What changes have been the most significant in you life? Is one seasonal change harder than the others each year? Feel free to leave me a comment below.
Until next time…
